Excellent Nanny Mother's Help needed for Afrikaans family

We are a happy, approachable South African family living on a lovely Manor near Bracknell, Berkshire (1 hour from London). I am a stay-at-home mother to our gorgeous 1-year old daughter and am expecting a new baby in October 2009. My husband and I are looking for a truly exceptional nanny/au pair plus/mother’s help to live with us and play an important part in this household.

Your role will be 6 days a week approximately 7am to 7pm, plus some babysitting if required every once in a while. Main duties will involve everything around the children, including playing, reading, changing nappies, bathing, singing, cuddling, preparing some simple meals, ironing their clothes, clearing their rooms (with their help of course) and taking walks in the forest next to our house. I will be sharing duties with you as it is my joy to be spending time with the children and it is important for the children to spend time with their parents.

Apart from childcare, you may be expected to do other various tasks in and around the house, like going to the post office, food shopping, unloading the dishwasher, sewing on buttons, trying your baking skills or some meal preparation (we have a cleaner, so no heavy cleaning). We have 2 friendly Labradors and a few horses on the property so we hope you are comfortable with animals.

We travel the odd weekend here and there, often go to London and have holidays abroad, including South Africa, so flexibility and an EU passport/appropriate visa will be essential.

In summary we need an organised, hands-on person that is practical, loving, creative, willing and ready to do what is needed. You may not be required to work all 12 hours of every day, and we are reasonable and flexible to accommodate everyone’s need. What this household needs is an extra pair of hands to give us more flexibility in our whereabouts.

In return you will have your own separate room and bathroom, a TV, use of a computer, food, a good salary for the right candidate, pocket money on our holidays away and 4 weeks paid holiday a year. The environment is happy, relaxed and peaceful and the right candidate will truly find a haven here

We are looking for someone to start anytime from now up to the beginning of August 2009, and needs to be available for at least a year. Spoken English must be fluent and it would be a great advantage if you have knowledge of Afrikaans, Dutch or Flemish. Applicants from outside the EU who don’t hold British passports must of course have relevant visas to allow you to work here as a nanny/mother’s help. Candidate must be a non-smoker, tidy and previous childcare experience is essential. A driver’s licence is an advantage. CV with picture and verifiable references will be required.
